R U OK? Day Thursday 10 September
Today is a reminder that a simple question can open an important conversation:
“Are you OK?”
Sometimes the people around us are carrying more than we realise. A friend, family member, colleague, or even someone who seems to be doing just fine, might be struggling.
You don’t need to have the perfect words or be able to fix things. Taking the time to genuinely ask, listen without judgement, and stay connected can make a real difference.
If someone says they’re not OK:
- Ask what’s going on
- Listen and give them your time
- Encourage them to seek support if they need it
- Check in again - support doesn’t have to be a one-off conversation
And remember, you don’t have to wait for R U OK? Day to ask.
If you’re finding things difficult, talking with our Mental Health Nurse, Lisa, or with your GP can be a good place to start. At Glebe Hill Family Practice and GHFP Nurture we are here to provide a safe, supportive and confidential space to talk.
R U OK? Ask the question. Start the conversation. Stay connected.
